Summer Holidays to Corfu
Corfu Sun Holidays Review and Guide
If you take a summer holiday to Corfu you'll have to share the largest of the Greek Ionian Islands with over 2 million olive trees. Although tourism reigns, agriculture is still an important part of this lush green land the most verdant of all the Greek Isles. But don't worry there's beaches a plenty too and with little rocky coves, wide sweeping stretches of sandy and secluded little bays a Corfu summer holiday has the diversity of locations the discerning Mediterranean sun seeker is looking for.
If it's a family summer holiday on the menu then you'll find the bucket and spade beaches on the North and West coasts with Glyfada (W) and Sidari and Acharavi being amongst the best. The East coast is best for quiet beaches including Agios Spiridon and the majority of beaches are blue flag quality. Besides the beaches resorts are well equipped with tavernas and plenty of sports and things to do but of course a summer holiday to Corfu wouldn't be the same without a good dollop of Greek history.
There are plenty of sites to see, ancient and modern; the large archaeological site at Kerameikos is where the oldest can be seen but if you want to see churches and monasteries there's plenty to choose from on a summer holiday to Corfu. All of the larger towns have old areas that are a delight to wander around but if the sightseeing gets too much for the children head off to Aqualand to make their perfect Corfu summer holiday.
