Beyond in this case is pretty much the whole of Crete as the village is located very near to the National Road making it easy to travel anywhere from a Sfakaki summer holiday. Closer to, the neighbouring village of Stavromenos is separated from Sfakaki by a creek in a gorge which is dry in the summer. The surrounding area is a pretty landscape full of olive groves and with a monastery. There’s also a pretty little church by the road to Pagalohori and walkers and hikers would enjoy a summer holiday to Sfakaki from where you can meander through the hillsides to some of the more traditional villages of Crete.

The main attraction, though, for most people of a Sfakaki summer holiday is the beach. It is long and sandy with a few pebbly areas. It’s great for sun bathing, swimming and there’s a selection of water sports available. The tavernas, cafes and bars are all close to the beach and this is where you’ll find the only nightlife on a summer holiday to Sfakaki.
