Summer Holidays to Nidri
Nidri Sun Holidays Review and Guide
Boating and sailing is a way of life here and a summer holiday to Nidri has a distinct nautical flavour. It’s an ideal place to learn to sail on calm seas and with a coastline of secluded and sheltered bays and several tiny islands there’s plenty to see. As well as being the assembly point for the annual Ionian Regatta in September – a real sight to behold – this busy ferry port and harbour is also the main resort on the island of Lefkas and a summer holiday to Nidri has more to offer than just being a playground for the boating fraternity.
Other outdoorsy types will enjoy the immediate surroundings as it’s fairly flat and on a Nidri summer holiday you can walk to the waterfalls near Rahi village or cycle the coast round around Vlicho Bay to the headland of Geni with its little white church which can also be reached on a much shorter journey by sea. A summer holiday to Nidri offers a challenge to more experienced and energetic walkers with trails into the hills to explore tiny villages hidden in trees and blossoming shrubs and spectacular views across the island and beyond.
Traditionalists are also well catered for on a summer holiday to Nidri. There is a good selection of bars and restaurants in the village. The cuisine spans all tastes and there are also a few tavernas specialising in local and national dishes. Nighttimes on a Nidri summer holiday are spent in welcoming bars and there’s a nightclub to take you through to the early hours.
