The other historical site that is a must see for any Estoi summer holiday is the Milreu Roman ruins the oldest of which date back to the 1st century whilst the most extensive bits belong to a luxurious villa with bath house. You can also see remains form the 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th and 13th centuries. Despite being of great interest, of course these alone are insufficient reasons to take a summer holiday to Estoi. The pretty town has quaint narrow cobbled streets and a charming square with the main church and a few cafés. The square’s Sunday market is a vibrant, colourful affair as are the town’s two festivals in May and August, which involve a bullfight, horses and fireworks. An Estoi summer holiday isn’t just a history lesson.
