Frankly, there’s not much to the village other than its beautiful coastal location and the basic resort but there is still everything you could need on an Afandou summer holiday. The village is set back from the beach and during summer a miniature train runs between the waterfront and the main square. Kids on an Afandou summer holiday will love the 1¼ mile journey which also includes traversing a flyover. On arrival at the beach you find 2½ mile stretch of blue flag sand and shallow calm sea. Parts are set up with beds and shades, water sport points and there’s a handful of informal tavernas and snack bars but if you’re on a summer holiday to Afandou for peace and quiet you’ll find it on undeveloped parts of the beach. The village itself is typical but unremarkable although there are frescos in the 16th century church and the hilltop church gives great views.
