Known as the centre of peace and friendship, despite its size, a summer holiday on Halki is definitely not a riotous affair but tourism is well developed and visitors don’t lack amenities or facilities. There is only one village and a couple of roads and certainly no discos, but people don’t take a Halki summer holiday for a buzzing nightlife; they take it for get away from it all relaxation. Depending on what guide you read the village is called Imporio, Nimborio or Emporio but whatever its name it is where your Halki summer holiday accommodation will be, where you eat and where you enjoy the local bars in the evening. The beaches on the island are numerous. The main one shares the bay with the picturesque port but it is sandy as is Pontamos and there are perfectly safe and lovely enough to take children on a summer holiday to Halki.
