Summer Holidays to Lindos
Lindos Sun Holidays Review and Guide
When you take a summer holiday to Lindos you follow in the footsteps of ancient Romans, Greek heroes, sainted apostles, conquering Italians and marauding Turks all of whom have left their mark. Thanks to being traffic free, you can happily spend hours of a Lindos summer holiday ambling the narrow cobbled alleys of sugar cube houses that wend their way up the hillside to the magnificent Acropolis or even hop on the back of a donkey. You can then explore the tombs of Cleobus and Archocrates, the colonnade of the temple, the ruins of the theatre and the old walls of the town or you can gaze down on the spectacular view of that other essential of a Lindos summer holiday, the golden sandy beach and the sparkling blue sea.
As well as being important in Greek myth, Lindos Bay is significant to Christendom as St. Paul is said to have landed in St. Paul’s to spread the gospel across Rhodes. It’s no surprise therefore that religious establishments play their part in a Lindos summer holiday. When you aren’t enjoying the joys of the beach visit some of the beautiful churches. The one In St. Paul’s is worth a definite look see with its 14th century architecture, 17th century bishop’s throne and 18th century frescoes. Back in the village, you may be steeped in history and culture but Lindos caters to the modern tourist and there are plenty of tavernas and bars to rest from those oh so exhausting rigours of sightseeing and enjoying yourself.
